Christmas Appetizer: Gilda

Although her blog is called El Dulce Paladar (The Sweet Palate), Adela also knows how to cause a sensation with her savoury and hot canapés ;). And we’re delighted, because the Gilda is one of those classics that never disappoint, and which highlight the value of the raw materials.

Feel inspired to make a few this Christmas? You’re sure to make an impression!

Ingredients:

(For each Gilda)

  • A wooden toothpick
  • 2 olives stuffed with anchovy
  • 2 piparras (green chilli peppers in vinaigrette)
  • Cantabrian Anchovies
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Some parsley for the presentation (optional)

Preparation:

The preparation of the Gilda is very simple, as all the ingredients are already prepared (canned food is such a blessing in the kitchen!). However, it does take some good taste to arrange the ingredients on the toothpick. Everyone has their own special way of doing things and Adela tell us how she likes to do it:

  • Start by inserting the toothpick through one end of the anchovy.
  • Insert the olive.
  • Insert the anchovy again.
  • Insert the piparra, folding it.
  • Close it at the other side with the other end of the anchovy.
  • Repeat the operation.
  • Serve with a dash of extra virgin olive oil.
  • Gently sprinkle some parsley over them (optional).

Delicious, thanks Adela!
